I'm not saying that he isn't opposed by Republican's, clearly he is, but his views still represent how many of them feel about cannabis and many other things that prevent really meaningful legislation from being passed.
I believe their are many more moderate Republican's who support legalizing cannabis, but they're not as outspoken as some who oppose it, like Session's. I believe we need more of the American's to speak up. The polls clearly say that Nationwide cannabis is supported, but in some of the more conservative State's the politicians don't believe the polls apply, and I'm uncertain that they do, but if their constituents who support legalization would speak up to their representatives, perhaps they would see that it isn't an issue that will cost them their office in the next election.
I don't need to consider such things in California, it's clear that we have support here. For those in State's where marijuana isn't legal, I can only suggest letting your Congressmen know that you support it's legalization.
I think it's interesting that Republican's normally are for State's Rights, yet in this case, their is substantial opposition. I believe that as more State's are included in the list of those legalizing it, the Federal Govt. must realize it's time to do so Nationally. It shouldn't force State's to accept it, but it should open banking, researchers, etc to be able to openly work with it.
