"Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of happiness". Powerful words. They outline how I feel about the cannabis issue. If we have certain inalienable rights, then government has no power to grant me anything where what I grow or build or consume is concerned. These rights are not within the power of government. Proponents of cannabis claim a false victory, imo. because a body of law is being developed to regulate, tax, protect "the public good". From all I've seen, government is a political animal first with public safety as it's cover. I believe this to be meddling and reject it on libertarian grounds
While civil disobedience has consequences, enforcers of the law in states where it counters State Law, no longer believe the slop they're dishing to the public. They look for guidance when it comes to uniform equitable treatment of violators, knowing that the mandate for enforcement is about gone.
Some standards will evolve, eventually.
