The French executive decided to start a new crusade against road accidents in the country , combating not only alcoholic driving, dangerous maneuvers and speeding, but also one that is nowadays one of the most accidents cause: the use of the phone while driving . The penalties provided for in the legislation now approved are anything but lenient, even providing for the withdrawal of the driving license.
Among the 18 measures now announced by the French press is the reduction in the maximum permitted speed on the secondary roads from 90 to 80 km / h , as we had already anticipated here . Another requirement is the mandatory installation of an automobile locking system , which does not allow the car to be switched on , in the case of drivers who, having already been caught drunk driving, try to do so again.
But even more comprehensive, by the number of drivers it will surely cover (how many of us can say that they never messed around on the phone while driving?) Is the decision to withdraw the letter, for a period of six months, to drivers who with your phone while they are driving . Already from 2019.
According to Figaro , this infringement, which at the moment implies the payment of a fine of € 135 and the loss of three points in the letter, will only be penalized with the withdrawal of the letter in the most serious cases . That is, when the driver, besides going to the phone while driving, endangers other drivers or passers-by. Or, when you commit other offenses, due to the distraction caused by the use of the mobile phone.
