Trump knows that if he wants a fighting chance to be reelected in 2020, then he'll have to reverse Session's decision.
Remember this president's ego is huge and he will take any steps necessary to win in 2020 - one of those steps will be to reverse Session's decision.
Also Trump has been trying to recruit Bernie supporters ever since Bernie Sanders lost the democratic nominee to Clinton --- a reversal to Session's decision would be a step in the right direction in his efforts to recruit some young dems.
