They were interesting examples, especially AMBS with the CUSIP name change. When CTIX changed to IPIX we didn't have a tremendously large spike in volume. During that transition any outstanding counterfeit CTIX shares would have to have been covered. Even if they were immediately reshorted, as some here suggest, there would be a volume trail.
Indeed, the lack of volume during the CUSIP change made me fully confident of no underlying naked short position. I truly cannot wait until we get a partnership so this silly saga can end and we'll be back to dealing with fundamentals of the company.
