And, let's remember that at one point Overstock.com's stock had a 110% "legal" short position according to FINRA. Given that members of the management had substantial long holdings, as did many individual shareholders, there was no way for there to be a short interest of 100%, much less 110% -- more stock than existed.
Illegal naked shorting does exist. It's just that we have no way of knowing what percentage it is, if there is any for a given stock.
I'm frankly tired of this whole argument. The whole thing is going to be moot when IPIX has great news and the stock price goes up to where it should be. In my opinion a fair price for a stock with at least 4 different applications for various drugs, all of which have been successful in clinical trials thus far, should be somewhere in excess of 5.
