The Embassy of the United States strongly condemns the violence that occurred in today's protest in tirana. We support the right of citizens to protest peacefully, but the damage to the public property, toss the smoke grenades in Parliament and violence are not acceptable. We call on all parties to show self-restraint and promote tranquility.
The Albanian people should not be surprised that their politicians are fighting each other. That means that justice reform is finally being implemented. The commissions will soon have their first results. The General prosecutor refusing to prosecute politicians is gone. Soon we will see the creation of spak and bkh, which will investigate and prosecute corrupt high-level officials. Albanian citizens look forward to justice. And politicians are scared.
