$PSGR The Holiday Season brings with it many stories, legends, myths, and cultural tales of Jolly Old Men. Just as in Miracle on 34th Street, there are many who refuse to relinquish a little bit of reality and never see the joy in childhood fantasies. I choose to believe in Santa Claus because the story has made all of my Children and Grandchildren smile and passionately count the days as they waited for his arrival. I choose to listen to holiday stories from other religions and cultures because the stories help define who the people are by their beliefs.
Also remember that this time of year can also be difficult for many who have suffered losses. Family, friends, and pets may have suffered greatly or died during this time of year. Joy is replaced with profound sorrow. Take the time to comfort a friend or acquaintance who has experienced a loss. Sometimes just knowing that you care will bring some relief to the pain.
Most of all, stay positive. This is truly the time of year when we can see what we have and what is MOST important to us. If your life is based entirely upon material possessions, I do not understand how you can ever be truly happy. Share a bit of your time, the rewards are infinitely greater than an addition to your bank account. We are all blessed in different ways, share a little gift of your uniqueness with someone who may need a smile or a hug or a "Thank You" or a "Really Glad to Spend Some Time with You".
