Trump’s Anti-Media Argument Collapses As America Trusts Every News Organization More Than Him

By Sean Colarossi on Thu, Dec 14th, 2017 at 7:45 pm

The American people are smart enough to recognize that Trump is unfit, incompetent, and corrupt – and that's nobody's fault but his own.

Donald Trump repeatedly blames the media for his failing presidency, from his legislative failures to the explosive special counsel investigation into his ties to Russia, but the vast majority of the country

According to a new Public Policy Polling survey, the American people just every major news organization – including CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, the New York Times and Washington Post – more than Trump.

In each case, respondents said the media is more trustworthy than Trump by double-digit margins.

Who do you trust more?
CNN 52%
Trump 39%
.
NBC 54%
Trump 39%

ABC 54%
Trump 39%

CBS 54%

NYT 55%

“Trump continues to be coming out behind on all of his various feuds with the media,” PPP notes. “Voters trust the Washington Post more than him 55/38, the New York Times more than him 55/39, ABC, CBS, and NBC more than him 54/39, and CNN more than him 52/39. They even trust Fox News more than him 33/28 because forced to make the choice Clinton voters say Fox News at least has more credibility than Trump by a 33 point margin.”

Since Trump announced his presidential candidacy in 2015, one of his main crutches has been to blame the media when things go wrong, which in his case, happens quite often. His base of supporters has insulated themselves from reality enough to buy into it, but the vast majority of the country has not.

It’s just the latest proof that Trump’s childish whining about the free press will do nothing to earn him the respect and support of anybody other than the dwindling percentage of the country who still supports him.

The American people are smart enough to recognize that Trump is unfit, incompetent, and corrupt – and that’s nobody’s fault but his own.
