This is one sweet plea deal.

It’s almost enough to make me wake up and check my watch-pocket to see if ZuZu’s petals are there. From the L.A. Times:
Retired Army Lt. Gen. Michael Flynn, who briefly served as President Trump's national security advisor, is scheduled to plead guilty Friday morning to a single count of making false statements to the FBI about his contacts with the Russian ambassador.
The plea deal was announced by special counsel Robert S Mueller III, who has been investigating whether members of Trump's team had aided Russian interference in last year's presidential election. Mueller’s prosecutors have been investigating a wide range of potential charges against Flynn. The agreement to plead to one count comes amid recent signs that the former Trump advisor was now cooperating with investigators.
Two facts must be obvious from the outset: 1) lying to the FBI remains a completely stupid thing to do, no matter what your motivation; and 2) Flynn must be serving up a five-course banquet to Mueller’s team, complete with wine course.
One count of lying to the FBI? Even if you believe that Flynn is taking this plea to keep his kid out of prison, this is one sweet deal. You have to assume that Flynn lied more than once to the FBI regarding his contacts with various Russian ratfckers, including Sergey Kislyak, the ambassador who apparently has done more shows in Washington than the Capitol Steps. For example:
FBI: Did you meet with Kislyak on this date?
Flynn: No.
FBI: Are you sure?
Flynn: Yes.
FBI: Are you double-dog-dare, pinky-swear sure that you didn’t meet him on this date?
Flynn: Cross my heart and hope to be Loretta Lynch.
See, that’s three lies and room service hasn’t shown up with the coffee cart yet.
Flynn clearly never learned the lesson that hundreds of landscapers, brick masons, and other subcontractors have learned to their dismay: If you go into business this guy, sooner or later, you end up cheated or in custody.
The president* is the great gravitational corruption that draws to itself whatever corruption there is in your soul, even if you don’t realize it’s there until it’s too late.
And the Republican party is the perfect host body for that exercise. This guy once was an honorable soldier. He got into Republican politics and he lost a bit of his equilibrium, and then along came Donald Trump, and Flynn apparently lost any ethical moorings he had left.
This is a corrupt regime, top to bottom. There is nothing to it but lies and fraud. Like all those subcontractors, more people are going to find out too late that they’ve been had.
