I reached out to Mark a couple years ago, sent him what I believed to be was a well-worded introduction and my resume - after all, 20 years in marketing/advertising/traditional/digital... most recently managing all outbound digital communications for an $18B health care company, why not ask for the close - Mark was polite, professional, thanked me for my expressed interest, said I had a nice solid background, but he was already engaged with a firm to help SFOR move that needle forward.
Ok, great...it was something I expected to hear (glad he was already working with a firm), but if I had a nickel for every time I was told "no thank you"...LOL...truth is, everyone here, I'd venture to guess 97%+, got their current/past jobs from someone they knew, or had a past working relationship with...it's how the business world works. For me, with the exception of waiting tables way back in college, every job I had/have was through an already established relationship.
So...I'm still here, no hard feelings whatsoever, well-positioned and happy to be a part of the company in a different way.
Good luck to everyone!
