Major growth plans for award-winning Plaxx technology

United Kingdom: At the 2017 Plastics Industry Awards staged in London, the prize for best recycled product has gone to Recycling Technologies of Swindon for its Plaxx innovation - said to the first hydrocarbon feedstock derived from residual waste plastic using a continuous process that can be based at a waste operator's site.
The award follows close on the heels of an announcement from Recycling Technologies that it has closed a funding round 'in record time', raising £5 million (US$ 6.6 million).
The company is now actively seeking further sites for its chemical recycling machine for converting residual plastic waste back into the oil from which it originally came. 'Recycling Technologies is now preparing for further trials at the end of the year to ramp up to continuous 24/7 operations,' it states.
The technology, which is claimed to boost the recycling rate for mixed plastics from 30% achieved with existing mechanical treatment to 90% with these technologies combined, is housed in a chemical recycling unit called the RT7000 which is capable of treating 7000 tonnes of mixed plastics per annum from household, commercial and industrial streams.
Following a 'very successful' year, Recycling Technologies is now looking to partner with more waste management operators and local councils with a view to increasing the number of sites from which it can operate.
