My Rolling Stones story 1964, I think I told it be
Post# of 125132
Labor Day weekend , Sunday evening, the Rolling Stones were playing at a teen dance hall 8 miles from my home. All we knew is they were a good English band. Danceland usually charged $1.25 to get in, but for the Stones it was $3.00. That seemed high back then, so we just drove by and if it was busy we would go in, but it was a small crown, so we went and got drunk in one of of our hangouts. Just a couple of weeks later "Satisfaction" came out and well, we missed a chance of a lifetime.
Back then they did not have big concerts, Woodstock really changed everything. The Beach Boys in their prime played at the same dancehall a few years earlier and filled it to capacity and my older sisters friends were opening windows letting others sneak in. Maybe 500 saw the Beach Boys. lol.
