Belleville, Illinois, Oct. 04, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Case managers are valued partners in helping patients with disabilities obtain financial and healthcare resources, according to Allsup , a nationwide provider of Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) representation, veterans disability appeal, exchange plan and Medicare plan selection services.
During National Case Management Week, Oct. 8-14, Allsup joins with the Case Management Society of America (CMSA) to bring attention to case managers’ contributions to patient care and quality of life. This year’s theme, “Together We Stand Strong,” resonates when it comes to collective efforts to meet the needs of people with the most severe conditions.
“Case managers help people manage complicated situations like not being able to return to work,” said Allsup Healthcare Professionals Account Manager Dawn Sachteleben. “Patients with disabilities often look to these professionals for guidance and information on Social Security disability benefits.”
An Allsup survey of more than 1,000 case managers and social workers nationwide showed that 93 percent said they get questions about disability benefits. “Case managers are instrumental in connecting patients with accurate information and expert resources, so they can make informed decisions,” said Sachteleben.
“Case Managers are the drivers of care coordination, which is the essential framework for population health and value based health care,” said Mary McLaughlin-Davis, DNP, ACNS-BC, NEA-BC, CCM, national president of the Case Management Society of America. “Case Management Week is the opportunity to recognize our professional case managers and the amazing contributions they make in the lives of patients, veterans, and clients in our health care systems and health care plans.
“Professional case managers’ skill sets range from strong clinical knowledge and expert patient assessment, to collaborative team building, and business competence with a strong commitment to fiscal responsibility,” McLaughlin-Davis said. “CMSA has for the past 27 years supported this amazing group of professionals. It is my honor and privilege to thank every case manager for their dedication to those patients, veterans, and clients they serve.”
