WWF-Canada seeks new leader and thanks David Miller

TORONTO, Oct. 04, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- World Wildlife Fund Canada would like to thank David Miller for four years of conservation achievements as president and CEO, and wish him well in his new role as North America regional director and ambassador for inclusive climate action for C40 Cities, the climate leadership group of 90 of the world’s greatest cities. WWF-Canada is sad to lose David but proud to see a Canadian and our former leader taking on this important initiative at an international organization he helped create when he was mayor of Toronto.

WWF-Canada’s four years under his leadership since 2013 have been a time of significant progress and achievement, not least in building a strong team. Given the high quality of the management personnel, WWF-Canada’s board of directors has invited internal candidates to interview to become the next president and CEO. David will continue to lead WWF-Canada in the interim to ensure as seamless a transition as possible.

Alex Himelfarb, chair of WWF-Canada’s board directors, says:

“The board is proud of the accomplishments made together during the past four years. The organization has a renewed focus on its core mandate: To reverse the decline of wildlife. And our strong team has delivered important advances in conservation in Canada. David is leaving WWF-Canada in a strong position for his successor to lead to new and even greater successes.”

David Miller, WWF-Canada’s outgoing president and CEO, says:

“I am sad to leave such an accomplished team, but the opportunity I have been offered is very close to my heart and impossible to turn down. The strength of WWF-Canada’s staff makes my decision a little easier, because I know that the organization is in good hands.”
