SAN MATEO, Calif., Sept. 29, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Arcadia Data , provider of the first native visual analytics software for big data, today announced two of its customers, Hewlett Packard Enterprise and Nordea Bank were named finalists in the seventh annual Constellation SuperNova Awards. The awards recognize business leaders and teams for the innovative application of disruptive technology.
Arcadia Data customers, Hewlett Packard and Nordea Bank were chosen as leading initiatives:
- In the Internet of Things category , Siamak Nazari, HP Fellow at Hewlett Packard Enterprise needed to get meaningful lifecycle analytics from tens of thousands of storage arrays at customer data centers worldwide. This meant collecting and analyzing a half million data files, representing hundreds of millions of data points, every 24 hours. Traditional technologies either were too cost-prohibitive to scale, or required trade-offs in terms of analytical capabilities. To reach a solution, the HPE data architecture and infrastructure team deployed Arcadia Enterprise on Hadoop and the results were nearly immediate. Since Arcadia was built to run in big data platforms, it met their requirements around scale, flexibility, performance, and security. They were able to design data-centric applications with it to get critical real-time business insights.
- In the Data to Decisions category , Alasdair Anderson, executive vice president and head of platforms at Nordea Bank manages a complex and distributed data matrix across multiple business lines. Increases in regulatory demand, velocity of output and consistency of data combined with a need to decrease opex, capex and time to market apply continued pressure on data management activities. With the existing legacy systems, which used a combination of mainframe, relational, ETL and classic data warehousing technologies, responding to the demands of regulators in a timely fashion was both a challenge and cost prohibitive. To reach a solution, Nordea moved to a combination of open source, Apache Hadoop and Apache Spark as the new data store in conjunction with implementing a smart data catalog and a native Hadoop business intelligence solution. By moving to a Hadoop-based architecture with Arcadia Data as the analytics front end, Nordea responds more quickly to the addition of new data sources and new requests from regulators.
“Leading transformation projects is not easy. It requires foresight, leadership, and persistence,” said R “Ray” Wang, chairman and founder of Constellation Research. “Finalists selected for the 2017 SuperNova Awards demonstrate not only prescience in recognizing a shift in the business environment, they possess the leadership skills and competence to introduce radical business models and emerging technologies that will enable their organizations to succeed in this tumultuous business environment. “There is no better validation than witnessing the business value that customers attain when they unlock the power of Arcadia Data software on their big data. Arcadia native visual analytics solve complex big data problems and those solutions deliver results directly to the bottom line for our customers,” said Steve Wooledge, vice president of marketing at Arcadia Data. “The HPE and Nordea use cases are examples of the incredible accomplishments that can be achieved. Congratulations to each and it is an honor to be recognized for the work that went into these successes. We are excited for a future brimming with collaboration, innovation and achievements beyond expectations for all of customers.”
