Taipei, Taiwan, Sept. 29, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Taiwan’s free society, rich culture and diverse and abundant creativity have produced many stunning Cinema, TV and Pop music works. Cinema, TV programs and Pop music not only interpret Taiwanese culture from various angles of life, they provide indispensable entertainment in people’s lives. The Bureau of Audiovisual and Music Industry Development (BAMID), Ministry of Culture, is taking part in the Taiwan Expo 2017 in the Philippines being held at the SMX Convention Center in Manila September 29 to October 1. It has set up the Taiwan Audiovisual and Music Exhibition Hall where outstanding cultural works from Taiwan are being introduced to the people of the Philippines.
Outstanding works that won in the Golden Horse Awards, Golden Bell Awards and Golden Melody Awards have been selected to feature at the Expo. These prestigious awards are the highest honor for Film, TV and music in Taiwan, while the Golden Horse Awards and Golden Melody Award are grand events on the popular entertainment culture calendar and industry benchmarks in the Chinese speaking world. As well as the three “golden” awards-winning works, highly popular films, TV shows and pop music from Taiwan are also on display. TV programs and films from Taiwan are shown in the Philippines quite infrequently, so Expo visitors are enthusiastically taking the chance to appreciate high quality TV programs and films, as well as great music from Taiwan, in the exhibition hall’s TV, film and Music Experiential Area. One such work is the film The Assassin which won best Feature Film and Best Director at the 52nd Golden Horse Awards and Best Director Award at the 68th Cannes Film Festival; also being shown is the Taiwanese TV drama In Time With You, winner of the Best TV Drama, Best Actor, Best Actress, and other awards, at the 47th Golden Bell Awards; Ding Zi Hua, an album by Taiwanese rock super star Wu Bai & China Blue, the resonant and stunning sound of indigenous singer Sangpuy Katatepan Mavaliyw on the album Yaangad, and The Teenage Psychic, a Taiwanese TV drama that has attracted many viewers in the oversea Chinese community in the Philippines, are also available for Expo visitors to enjoy. These excellent works will combine to allow the people of the Philippines to savor a varied and abundant Taiwanese TV, film and music feast at the Taiwan Expo 2017 in the Philippines.
Another highlight of the event is the fine tea and coffee from Taiwan, popcorn and other snacks that are considerately provided free of charge at the exhibition hall, allowing visitors to feel the human warmth of Taiwan as they enjoy being entertained by Taiwanese culture. As well as a large number of people queuing to enter the TV, Film and Music Appreciation Area, a large number of visitors are keen to fill out a questionnaire and receive a special limited-edition souvenir in return. Over its three days, the Expo is expected to attract more than 1000 people. Participation in the Expo and interaction with its visitors this time will help mold a Taiwanese TV, film and music industry brand image and it can be expected to be a big help to the industry in developing the Southeast Asian market and expanding its overall overseas market in the future.
