SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 28, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Dialpad today announced that it has raised an additional $17 million in venture capital financing, with Bill Maris’ new firm, Section 32, joining the existing investors. To date, Dialpad has raised $70 million dollars to drive the growth of its all cloud communications service for international enterprise, educational and SMB customers.
Section 32, the new investor in this round, was founded by Bill Maris. With this investment, Section 32 joins prior investors Andreessen Horowitz, Amasia, Felicis Ventures, and GV who also participated in this round. The investment represents a continuation of Maris’ longstanding relationship with Dialpad and its founders.
“Bill Maris has been incredibly supportive of the Dialpad vision since we worked together at Google Ventures in the early days,” said Dialpad CEO and co-founder Craig Walker, who also founded and led GrandCentral, now Google Voice, before it was acquired by Google in 2007. “Bill’s friendship, foresight, guidance, and experience has been invaluable to all of us at Dialpad. Bill believed in us and funded us when we were just three co-founders in a garage, so to have the chance to work with Bill again from his new fund is an incredible opportunity.”
Section 32’s investment in Dialpad comes as the Google Cloud Platform-based communications company begins a North American expansion effort.
“I’ve watched Craig build this company from just an idea to over 48,000 business customers, many of which are household names from the Fortune 1000, as well as some of the most rapidly growing startups in the world. Dialpad was one of the first investments I made at Section 32, as it embodies the type of companies we seek to invest in: Great founders, great idea, great team, great product and great execution. When I founded Section 32, Craig was top of mind,” said Maris.
