"Using a inkjet printing technique, the Taiwanese CPT company is working on the production of Quantum Dots Electro-Emissive Screens, which should reach mass production within two years, after a further stage research and development on materials "
CPT (Chunghwa Picture Tubes) is developing a printing process for Electro-Emissive Quantum Dot (Q-LED) displays. In the statement the companyTaiwanese emphasizes once again the advantages of Q-LEDs compared to OLEDs, accrediting them for superior performance in terms of color purity, efficiency, durability and stability. CPT is adopting inkjet printing to realize displays with quantum nanocrystals, a process that should reduce production costs.
Even though Taiwanese executives find the major building difficulties to be resolved, the performance of current materials requires additional investmentin research and development. CPT is just one of several companies focusing on self-emitting Quantum Dots, starting with Samsung and Hisense and TCL partners in the QLED Forum . In addition to acquiring QD Vision, the Korean multinational has been collaborating with Nanosys for a long time, according to which in 2018 the "photo-emissive" intermediate solution could be reached, where QLEDs replace passive filters.
The first real prototypes were exhibited by BOE Display during SID 2017, while the Quantum Materials Corp . Texan seems close to solving the poor longevity demonstrated so far by the QLED. However, CPT still has to be able to reach mass production within two years.
