Alternatively, maybe the jerks really DID hire private detectives to get advance info on clinical trials (we know that hedge funds have done this in the past) and they know that they'd better buy cheap now while they can?
For those who are disbelieving, it has been documented that hedge funds have hired private detectives who stake out the locations of clinical trials. They get license plate numbers which lead to names, then they find those people on social media. If, for instance, a patient in a clinical trial posts something like "Thanks to everyone for all their good wishes. 6 weeks in of the new treatment and I feel much better" -- well, that tells them something, doesn't it?
Also they've been know to bribe not only medical professionals like doctors and nurses, but also orderlies and even custodians, to try to get info.
If you think that people don't do this kind of thing to make profits, you haven't been paying attention.
