Wall St. facing headwinds
Investor hopes on Friday morning are pinned to potential stimulus from the European Central Bank
FRANKFURT (MarketWatch) — U.S. stock index futures traded near unchanged as European shares turned lower, trimming initial gains tied to growing speculation the European Central Bank could move to provide further help to the struggling euro zone.
Futures on the Dow Jones Industrial Average (CBOT JM2) rose 3 points, or less than 0.1%, to 12,539. The S&P 500 Index (GLC:SPM2) rose 1.6 points to 1,324.20, while the Nasdaq-100 (GLC:NDM2) gained 5.75 points to 2,542.
European equities turned lower, with the Stoxx 60 Europe index (STX:XX:SXXP) losing 0.1%. Modest support stemmed from steady German consumer-confidence data, which contrasted with a fall Thursday in the Ifo German business-climate index. http://www.marketwatch.com/story/stock-future...beforebell
