The most interesting is Verbascum thapsus (great mullein or common mullein). It looks like a corn stalk, with corn on the top. I have noticed over my 4 years here that they never grow in the same place as the year before. Last year was a banner year with 50 or more in 2 of the walking trails, 10 in the third. This year I only saw a grand total of 12 in all three parks.. They emerge late, like after July 4th.
The leaves have medial uses, used before we had big pharma. Infections is one. You can make tea out the leaves. I never have, now will. They spray these parks for mosquitoes and who knows what else..
