Thank you for your opinion of "This makes no sense" - I think that is a similar response made by horse and buggy users when the car first came out or when airplanes were new and people commented, "man was not meant to fly" -
Of course it takes money and that is why revenue (sales with profit) is necessary for among many things, innovative R&D, agree?
