After further research I understand that the new version of the Apple app has the capability of viewing 4K Ultra HD and HDR.
We are excited that Apple is updating their tvOS with version 11 having full support for 4K Ultra HD and HDR,” stated Mark Morris, lead iOS programmer on the UltraFlix team. “We were able to seamlessly add in our award-winning streaming technology to the new TVOS allowing the UltraFlix app to be able to stream in 4K Ultra HD on the first day that consumers receive their new Apple TV devices.”
