The CSRV is at least a bridge to the future that allows internal combustion engines to stay on the market for a while longer without massive assembly line and power train changes.
It is by far the easiest and least expensive way for auto manufacturers to satisfy the "greenies" while minimizing tooling changes. They keep the bottom end of the engines and replace only the valve/head units. They save weight and reduce fuel consumption and have a cleaner burn all in one fell swoop.
