HERNDON, VA--(Marketwired - Aug 31, 2017) - EdgeConneX® , specializing in global data center solutions at the edge of the network, today announces a new partnership with Community IX , an organization dedicated to improving interconnectivity and reducing cost between networks, and its new Atlanta-based Internet Exchange, CIX-ATL to build a connectivity node into EdgeConneX's Atlanta Edge Data Center® (EDC) . Located just outside of downtown Atlanta, the 29,800-square-foot EDC was purpose built to provide customers with a secure colocation facility capable of delivering content and applications to local-market consumers with the lowest possible latency.
The recent establishment of CIX-ATL will allow ISPs, content providers and enterprises to quickly, cost-effectively and easily exchange IP traffic at serveral sites in the Atlanta metro area. Competing with an incumbent provider, Community IX aims to piece together another peering-fragmented market by offering a cost-effective, distributed switching fabric across six data centers, including the EdgeConneX Atlanta EDC. The deployment of this new node will allow EdgeConneX to localize traffic to the surrounding metro market, providing tenants with a wide range of peering opportunities. Port fees are waived on CIX-ATL until September 2018, and the exchange is currently accepting new members.
