Out of a 5-star scale:
3/5 for leg room
3/5 for customer service
2/5 food and beverage
3/5 seat comfort
3/5 Check-in and boarding process
1.5/5 in-flight entertainment
Only thing that had 4 stars was cleanliness. I guess they do a good job and cleaning toilets. Here are some written reviews:
Review 1: My wife and I went to Iceland for a 5 day trip from Newark to Reykjavic. The online check-in and boarding was quite easy. We upgraded our ticket for the extra two suitcases which was fine. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The two drawbacks are as follows: 1. The leg room on the economy seats for a 6 hour flight was ridiculous. I'm 6 foot 3 and my wife is 5 foot 10 and we were both cramped. I'm not sure how much extra it was to pay for the seats with more leg room. The second thing is the food was expensive and not that good. A long bread roll with very little ham and cheese cost about $11. A can of Pepsi was about $3.50. The one thing that I liked is that they let you stand in the aisles for a little while to let you stretch out your legs, as long as their wasn't any turbulence.
Review 2: It started with my booking my flight. Wowair says to be budget friendly, well they're not. There is no direct flight so you have to change in Reykjavik. A couple of days before my travel I received an email suggesting me to add options to my flight: luggage, food, a reserved seat, nothing was included. I had to pay 65 euros extra for luggage, making my flight as expensive as the - way better - United flight I took towards my destination. Then the flight itself: flight was delayed, boarding never could have been slower, people moving at 0 miles an hour. Not one staff member seemed happy with their job. Since everything costs extra, you got nothing to eat during the entire flight (oke) and nothing to drink as well (not even a glass of water was possible, small bottles were available for 4 dollars). Then there was that horrible child that was whining/screaming and kicking in the back of my seat. The staff did nothing to try to help the parents/calm down the child. Luggage was delayed as well. My conclusion is that I will never ever fly this 'budget' airline again. I will advice everyone I know to make the same choice.
Review 3: I was VERY disappointed with their costumer service. I was excited about using the airline because I wanted to experience a company based in Iceland. But the mobile app is useless as it doesn't let you add luggage and then when I tried to pay for luggage on line, the website wouldn't process the payment. After 1 hour and three attempts, I called the call centre who processed it but when I asked him to do the same for a second flight, he said I have to try online again and call back or he will charge me for calling the call centre for $17 dollars. Of course the website didn't work AGAIN and I had to call and have it processed over the phone. Both times the representatives were rude and not helpful at all, no one at WOW air is "super helpful" like your phone message claims. I am horrified at what the actual flight experience will be like. If you think you can sacrifice service to save money, you are sadly mistaken. NEVER AGAIN!
The list goes on and on. Like I said above, over 4,000 reviews just on TripAdvisor for WOW Air.
