According to IDC's report, "Worldwide Cloud Systems Management Software Market Shares, 2016: Year of Monitoring and Analytics Growth," VMware's market share stood at 21.2 percent, more than seven percentage points above the second place vendor. To keep up with the demand for management solutions optimized for multi-cloud environments, VMware was recognized for its continued efforts to offer customers a unified approach to cloud management monitoring, analytics and automation.
The report notes that, "Customers are shifting priorities away from simply automating cloud IaaS provisioning and self-service and putting greater emphasis on application performance, infrastructure capacity and cost optimization, configuration compliance, and integrated service management workflows.
