They can play games with the stock on these low-volume days, and it means nothing. When there is some news, anyone who was short the stock, or was waiting to buy stock "when it starts moving up" is going to be very, very sorry.
Just remember how DNDN closed at 7 one day, and opened at 21 the next. I expect a wild, fast move when IPIX has great news. It's really hard to jump on board those things.
I remember JAZZ too. A friend told me to buy at 29, and I thought "nah, it's gone up too far, too fast." A few days later it started falling, and went to 17. I smugly thought I was SOOOO smart. And then it zoomed up, went to 39, eventually to 150 and 180, and I never got on board.
So what I say is, when I find a grossly undervalued stock, I buy it and plan to hold it until it pays off. I just find it too hard to buy many fewer shares at a much higher price, when I know I could have bought it cheap at the bottom.
And in my opinion, a few pennies here or there (or for that matter, dimes) matter not in the grand scheme of things.
