I think it has no bearing on contract for film application. This is for on-chip QD-LED and backlight application.
I also think they probably exceeded the 1,000 hours well before the Aug. 5 date where he mentioned it on LinkedIn.
As for next step technical breakthroughs, I would think we'll hear about the following over the next year:
1) blue qdot performance improvements
2) QD-LED and backlight application testing (3,000 hour, and beyond)
3) Potentially info on solar cell R&D initiatives or performance improvements
Who knows what breakthroughs they may have! When you can do 100s of separate qdot configuration tests per day with their reactor technology, the possibilities are relatively endless.
