The 'old free market system' gave us no coverage/astronomical premiums for pre-existing conditions, lifetime limits on coverage and people thrown off coverage for clerical errors.
The ACA IS a free market solution proposed by the Heritage Foundation. It described the mandate as a 'personal responsibility' provision. Place a public option alongside the private insurance system and best man wins....call it Medicare for All.
Supplemental plans available just as now, so Cigna and BCBS don't have to go and compete with GEICO for home and auto. LOL!

We now got major greedy oligopolies in most of the health care system and health insurance business, and it won't work better than the old free market system and won't be able to go back.
