Some prospective investors have been scared off by the Mako articles on Seeking Alpha. A couple of instances have been PM'ed to me by people I trust. Seeking Alpha's allowing those articles to stay up despite being told they are untrue certainly has affected the stock price in the past.
But at this point, I doubt very much that there is anyone left to be scared by anything a basher posts. The people who have held on to their stock and bought more are doing so because they understand the magnitude of the clinical trial news, and they understand that it was a short-sellers' attack that caused the drop in stock price, not any fundamental problem with the company.
And I don't think that the daily FINRA number has any effect on people's decision to buy or sell. Anyone who was going to sell has sold already. Any prospective investor has already been scared off by Mako's lies.
I view this whole controversy as a huge waste of time. People could instead spend the argument time searching for cat videos.
