i saw a WW2 veteran today with his WW2 hat on. Went up to say 'thank you for your service'. Such a great guy. I could tell the years had taken a toll on his body but you could still see the youth in his eyes.
He said he served in the European theater. Its incredible to know that there are still men and women alive today who literally saved you and me from living under a world of tyranny and oppression. I guarantee had veterans, whether American, French, British, Soviet Union, Canada, Australia etc not stood up to the nazi regime, we would not be here investing freely today. Its easy to forget, but there were several occasions in which the Allied forces almost completely lost the entire war.
Lets be sure to say thank you to all veterans, regardless of military branch, or their job at the time.
Remember, a veteran is someone, whether active duty, retired, or national guard or reserve who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America," for an amount of "up to and including THEIR LIFE."
