I agree, We Have Always Wanted to Rock the Market, take the limited resources and move towards the 50G (which no one has done) full steam, that will totally answer the question of the scaling for the industry, AND bring them knocking, then if they want to hit the 100G market which still has a ton of demand they can spend some man power and double back on that. When they have the 50G we WILL be in charge. We need to get totally ahead of the market, which will remove all doubt.
It is important to understand that this is at the Chip Level OUR CHIP and OUR MATERIAL.
So the industry is looking for a material that can “scale” , Sooooo in order to prove it, they’ve NOW done a 2.5 that turned into a 10, which turned into a 20 then the 25 speed referred to prior to this and now they have 28G which could enter the market as a 4x25=100 with the extra 12 gig used for “information encoding overhead” . Can you say de-risking faster and faster every day.
But yes the bickering was not Fake news nor a Modulator on the shelf.
Remember that it did modulate at 28 gig before but that was in someone else device so in that respect Punk was correct. But as we remember a few years back with Joe Miller, pretty sure Ross Fasick was there that day, We need a feedback loop and in order to do it we need a lab, we could have a nice little business if we just sell the materials “But we could own the Market if we own the device”. Well folks we are almost there. This performance is at the Chip Level on OUR CHIP and OUR MATERIAL.
“The improved performance of this prototype puts us on the right track to further scale our ridge waveguide modulator towards 50Gbps, which will enable 400Gbps optical networking data-rates (using 4 channels at 50Gbps with PAM4 modulation - to double the speed, or 8 channels at 50Gbps using NRZ modulation).”
Yes this is yet another step and exactly what they have promised us, let’s not put the cart before the horse though, there is still work to be done but I’ll bet you more than a few industry heads are scratching their chins. I’d like to be a fly on the wall at the next board meeting.
Folks we have our money on the correct side of this horse, opportunities like this do not come along often, but games will be played.
