I haven't bothered to read this thread but mako has to be one of the worst investors I think I have ever met.
First, he is about 29 years old and lives in Texas. Most of us were trading stocks and shares before his balls had dropped and his voice had broken. He claims to work for a hedge fund but the fund he claims to work for doesn't even exist or manage any external capital. (That's very easy to check on).
Second, he doesn't have a Bloomberg account. How many hedge fund managers don't have Bloomberg accounts? I have been doing this a very long time and I have never met one. It is $30k per year but it is just a cost of doing business. If you manage serious amounts of capital, it's a rounding error on your expense bill.
Second - he has a very sketchy track record. He started his career at Vector marketing where he was a sales rep. Then he moved to Synergy Promotions Group, also in Dallas as an account representative. Then he ended up a Carrabba's Italian Grill in Dallas as a waiter. Finally he landed a role at Accenture where I am told he was fired because of fraudulent activity. He has a BBA in finance from Texas A&M University.... not something I would personally want to advertise!
Third, he has had some appalling recommendations. Take a look at his ABEO and AVXS pitches. Possibly two of the worst I have seen in my career. He is offside on one by about 50% and the other by about 100%. He has stopped commentating on those two because it must have become very embarrassing.
Finally, he relies on making low quality short pitches on small cap biotech companies which have no proper institutional coverage. His goal is to scare retail investors out of the stock a collect a quick 10-20% on a $100k investment. He has no scientific skill set so he relies on using scare tactics about weak management teams or precarious financial positions.
If the stock is down because of a mako article... just buy some more and thank him for creating an entry point.
