It was fun, stuff. Day I ETS'd from the military. Phone was ringing when I got home. Hospital in Illinois.... my dad had collapsed as he was being discharged from the Hospital for back pain. AAA Aneurysms ruptured as he was leaving....heading to surgery and less than a 5% chance of living, when they called. He lived, lost a leg from it etc 1 year in the Hospital total between 2 civil hospitals and 3 VA hospitals to get him it Kansas. Mean time back and forth from Kansas to Illinois dealing with both my mom and dad. Moving my Mom to Kansas was my 1st turn down by the State of Illinois.
I had to laugh. I closed up the house in Illinois. It was built in the mid 1800's and was right on the Highway in town. Semi truck blew a tire off his rig as he was driving through town. Tire went through the side of the house and destroyed pretty much everything in it path. Some damn Insurance company called harassing my dad now living with me over a 6-7K estimate to repair the house.
Told my dad. Give me that phone. I said Sir. That house was built in 1850 something. This is what is going to happen. I am going to call a company to do a stress test on the house. If it doesn't pass the stress test you'll be building a new house for my dad.
Took the guy about 2 seconds to approve the 6-7K in repairs...
