"They" have a real problem. If they try to knock the price down after results like that, the manipulation will be apparent even to the most die-hard skeptic.
But if they let it run, the remaining shorts will be killed.
I think they'll try to cap the amount of the run up. What they'll do is let it run, then try to bring the price back down near the end of the day.
