- Eight airports reported growth in total traffic
- Six new domestic routes opened
MONTERREY, Mexico, July 06, 2017 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Mexican airport operator Grupo Aeroportuario del Centro Norte, S.A.B. de C.V., known as OMA (NASDAQ: OMAB ) (BMV: OMA), reports that terminal passenger traffic at its 13 airports increased 6.8% in June 2017, as compared to June 2016. Domestic traffic increased 7.5%, and international traffic rose 1.5%.

Domestic traffic increased in eight airports in June. The most noteworthy increases were:
- Monterrey (+9.2%; +62,083 passengers), principally because of increased passenger volumes on the Cancún, Guadalajara, Mexico City, and Puerto Vallarta routes.
- Culiacán (+11.4%; +15,125), principally as a result of increased traffic on the Guadalajara, Mexico City, and Mexicali routes.
- Chihuahua (+15.7 %; +14,676), as a result of higher traffic on the Guadalajara route.
- Ciudad Juárez (+9.9%; +9,570), as a result of increased traffic on its Guadalajara route.
- Zihuatanejo (+27.6%; +6,784), as a result of growth on the Mexico City route.
During the month, Aeroméxico opened the Monterrey-Puerto Vallarta route; Interjet opened the Culiacán-Guadalajara and Chihuahua-Guadalajara routes; and VivaAerobus opened the Ciudad Juárez-Cancún, Monterrey-Ciudad Obregón, and Monterrey-Tijuana routes.
The highest volume domestic routes during June were Monterrey-Mexico City, Monterrey-Cancún, Chihuahua-Mexico City, Monterrey-Guadalajara, and Culiacán-Tijuana.
International traffic increased in nine airports in June. The largest increases were:
- Durango (+64.8%; +2,015 passengers), in large part because of increased traffic on the Los Angeles route.
- Zacatecas (+6.7%; +768), as a result of increased traffic on the Chicago route.
- San Luis Potosí (+4.0%; +534), as a result of traffic growth on the Houston route.
Of total June traffic, 98.6% was commercial aviation and 1.4% was general aviation.
Total available seats grew 3.6% in June 2017.
