Agreed, and the article states that QD generating MEG can alleviate that problem because QD are tunable. Multijunction if necessary.
I think you are wrong if you are saying that blue predominantly causes most of the thermalization because a large portion is not absorbed. I think red and IR hitting a silicon panel will generate a lot of heat and cause both some loss of absorption of other frequencies and degradation to the panel.
