It is already there...many people are looking for the message for self growth and not the politic's of the church organization...
I can watch services on Facebook now to the church I attend...There is a church platform to produce services out there. They can produce their own media and upload the content pretty much with a video camera, Computer and the video editing platform.
If I don't like the message being put out. I find a new church on-line. It is a "Me" world out there now....so online church has it's perks for Millennials...
The Methodist Church I did attended was doing great. Large Million plus dollar facility. 300-400 going to the church 2 services and all the extras. Then the hierarchy of the greater church brought in a liberal female snowflake with a new message. Might be 50 people that attend now. Then there are the coffee shops out there.
My belief system is pretty set in stone at my age...it is faith bases on the life lesson's taught rather than the literal. The new age theologians are not playing well in rural communities as they do not pair up with the life lesson's taught in any of the major Religions. Just like in Islam, there are those that what to corrupt the lesson plan across the faiths.
Seems to me Religion has evolved over 3000 years or longer, as the fibers to civilization. The message is being pretty black and white...the interpretation ...has it's issues, serving those who choose to corrupt it.
Buildings are expensive to maintain as are the staff needed....which takes away from the message.
Zuk may be on to something. Problem with that though is the "Big Brother" effects. I don't want government to have access to my content intake and or the ability to do so. Other problem is you have Facebook play editor and chief or GOD and or it's agents.
