I like this. I have always felt that dividends were potentially the best bet to inflict pain on legitimate shorts and smoke out naked shorts. With legitimate shorts, they have to pay that dividend to the one from which they borrowed the shares. With naked shares, the purchasers will be asking someone for their dividend and the company is not going to pay out more in dividends than their books say they have outstanding shares. Talk about shining a light in a dark room and watching the roaches scatter! And it would be even better if we had an exclusive retail product for which we could declare a product dividend.
