I understand what you are saying but based on the continuos short activity the past 4 years they must have sold hundreds and hundreds of millions of shares by now if they never buy back. I'm thinking there are those that can short a stock and buy back after it falls a point or two and make a good percentage profit.
If this stock say goes to a dollar a share and not out of business so they don't have to ever cover. Is there any time period that they are forced to buy the shares they sold. If not then I'm surprised that there are not trillions of shares sold if they never have to cover.
