You starve a bear to get rid of it, not feed it.

I wish there was some way I could get this message across. Stop arguing with bashers. You play right into their plans. They lie to get a reaction from you you, don't fall for it.
Don't reply to them, because you make them money, they keep coming around, and you give them a spring board to reply off of.
How we reduced their presence on another board.
1) NEVER, NEVER, NEVER "click reply to...." to respond to their posts. They make money from that AND you give them a reason to reply. You give their lies credibility when you reply (how to combat the lies, below). You won't ignore their lies, just respond in a better way.
2) NEVER, NEVER, NEVER use their screen name in your posts.
3) NEVER, NEVER, NEVER refer to one of their posts in your posts. Anything they can tie your post to, they get credit for.
4) All of the above give them a reason to reply. Like playing tennis, you give them a partner to volley with. Take away their partner, and they are playing tennis alone. How long would a tennis game last with only one player? One serve and done. Same with their posts.
Starve them, don't feed them.
We need to protect our investment. Those are some thing not to do, here are some thing TO DO:
1) Just post positive facts. No references to the poster or his post.
2) No matter how pissed a basher makes you feel, don't fall for it and try and attack them or "prove them wrong." That will never happen, they lie on purpose to get you angry. Don't let them manipulate you like that. Ignore the knee jerk reaction.
3) Keep TOSing their posts.
4) PM others an encourage them to read the above. If you have to, copy it to them. We need a coordinated effort to combat them because they are coordinated too. If needed, form a contact tree where everyone has one person they PM about posting facts and if we get 10+ people, we can bury the lies with facts.
5) Post numerous facts to push the lying posts down the page and eventually to the next page. Many posters never go the next page of a board. So if you have 2+ points to make, split it into individual posts instead of one large post.
This stuff has worked in the past. Remember, to make a bear go away, you starve it, not feed it!
