It galls me that they talk about how part of Dendreon's problem was a "delay" by the FDA. It was not a delay. It was a REJECTION of their drug, against the vote of the review panel, because one of the people on the final review panel was working on a rival drug himself. It took the involvement of senators and congressmen (after prospective patients organized and fought a PR campaign) to get the FDA to review the decision and then approve the drug.
So people died sooner than they could have, because one selfish doctor was stupidly allowed to be on a panel reviewing his rival's drug.
And, his drug never made it to the point of being reviewed by the FDA. And, of course, he was not sanctioned for this unconscionable and probably illegal behavior. At least, I sure HOPE something like that is illegal.
