Nope...801 isn't seeing things. Other sources confirm 200kg for which it takes a "team of waste warriors" working 'tirelessly from 8am to 6pm" to fill.
200kg is probably between $25 and $75 worth of plastic, depending on sorting and cleanliness. The team might fill the unit multiple times per day...but the dollar values are tiny.
Now remember PTOI's claim of getting free waste plastic--after all 93% of plastic is simply discarded and available for free...for anyone who can assemble a team of "waste warriors" willing to work for free or for virtually nothing to collect and sort that plastic out of the waste stream. After collecting the plastic, it's still worth more to plastic recyclers who will pay more for that plastic than the plastic would be worth in a pyrolysis process.
Hopefully 801's story will start to paint a picture of why PTOI's economics simply don't work. PTOI isn't alone--plastic pyrolysis is simply not economical and, given that plastic is recyclable, not green either.
