Intellectual property litigation partner Leslie Spencer (Silicon Valley) is quoted in a May 30 Business Insurance article that discusses how the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent TC Heartland decision is expected to reduce the number of nuisance patent litigation lawsuits, including “patent troll” suits, filed against many firms.
Ms. Spencer explains that patent infringement lawsuits may shift from the Eastern District of Texas to the Northern District of California, where many technology companies are based. Plaintiffs may also turn to multidistrict panels, which would involve consolidating a large set of lawsuits against multiple defendants
