Thanks for the great explanation. I know you enjoy finding all the early research and new discoveries, most of which I don't understand.
My marketing background makes me ask the big question, whether low cost and mass produced QD LEDS and photocells, perhaps integrated with sensors could have greater mass acceptance than new ideas like the 3D printed lens?
When I look at the list of potential QMC partners, I see many multinational conglomerates who will have many different applications for QDs. To start, how about putting a QD display across your entire line of products? My point is that a corporation like Philips is already heavily involved with IoT and could be a first mover in the QD IoT arena and gain market share before new ideas can gain a foothold. Sometimes being first, like McDonald's, can beat out a better product just due to availability, convenience, cost, or name recognition.
Apple, for another example, started with a desktop computer, then a laptop, then a mp3 player, and now smartphones. Any electronics manufacturer today may well have the capability to develop new product catagories . While we talk about the catagories we know most, displays and LEDs, we don't know what actual QD mass availability will enable.
