Libs Freak When They See What Trump Had The Nerve to Do at Memorial Day Ceremony
In his role as commander in chief of the U.S. armed forces, President Donald Trump took part in the solemn Memorial Day ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery on Monday, and of course, he was attacked for it by his critics on the left.
Trump laid the traditional wreath in front of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and delivered a heartfelt speech paying honor and respect to those who have made the ultimate sacrifice on behalf of the nation before visiting the graves of some of those who have fallen during the war on terror.
According to the Washington Examiner, Trump also seemed to sing along with part of the playing of “The Star-Spangled Banner” at the beginning of the ceremony, which apparently is now a crime to some leftists.
Of course, there are those on the left who will criticize Trump for pretty much anything, and this occasion was no different, as liberal media outlets and Trump-haters on Twitter let loose against the president for having the temerity to sing along with our nation’s anthem.
Left-leaning feminist outlet Bustle wrote — apparently in all seriousness — that Trump’s singing along with the national anthem while at Arlington National Cemetery was “inappropriate” and unbecoming of a president.
The Huffington Post described Trump’s singing as the action of a “toddler president” and remarked that he seemed to “jovial” for such a somber moment as honoring our nation’s war dead.
But the venom really flowed on Twitter, according to Mediaite, as countless anti-Trump trolls posted expletive-laced rants against the president for daring to actually appear as though he loves the country and was enjoying himself, somber nature of the day’s event aside.
Others suggested that Trump treated the playing of the anthem as if it were at a baseball game, or as if he heard it in his head as the “Happy Birthday” song, of course being all about him, since he is viewed by many on the left as a self-centered narcissist.
Sadly, there are those on the left so consumed by their hatred of Trump — really just all Republicans in general — that they will attack him vociferously for everything he does, including singing along with “The Star-Spangled Banner.”
As an aside, consider that many of those criticizing Trump for supposedly being disrespectful during the playing of the anthem had no problems when then-San Francisco 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick and other major sports figures took a knee and otherwise acted disrespectfully during the playing of the anthem prior to games last year.
Either “The Star-Spangled Banner” is just another song that can be ignored and disrespected, or it is an anthem worthy of honor and due respect. It can’t be both. Hypocrites.
