The FDA approved Phase 1 safety trial should be completed by July and while I believe the patients probably didn't notice any negative side effects, I don't know that nothing of concern to the FDA won't be found in all the blood draws they're taking.
If in fact the cannabis was reaching the bloodstream, it might be a levels insufficient to even consciously recognize, but it still could be a concern to the FDA. The only time I've ever tried it I was given some candy, I felt nothing, and it didn't effect my appetite at all, as it was so weak. I don't doubt that if specific blood tests had been run they could have found I was trying it. The hospital nurses read me the riot act when I admitted having some candy.
We need the Federal Govt. to recognize the benefits of cannabis and reclassify it. The fear in the hospital of losing accreditation because someone used cannabis needs to end. Many Doctor's recognize the benefits, but the nurses know that if discovered in the hospital, they could lose a great deal of Federal funding for their research efforts.
FDA approval for cannabis based drugs would certainly permit their use in hospitals, but it could be year's, even decades until that occurs for things like cancer cachexia, their term for uncontrolled weight loss due to chemo. I'd be willing to bet that nearly all Oncologists know this is true, but they won't write the scripts, you need to get them from the Doctor's who are recommended by the Green Cross stores.
