Christopher Curry: Good morning, and thank you for contacting Fidelity Investments. I am happy to look into this for you. How are you doing today?
Me: Doing well thank you Christopher.
Christopher Curry: It is my pleasure.
Christopher Curry: Please allow me a moment to review your account information, and I will be back with you.
Me: Trading for this stock on the OTC was restricted due to the STOP sign, but that was removed this morning.
Christopher Curry: Thank you for that information.
Christopher Curry: Thank you for your patience.
Me: No problem, the YIELD sign remains but I did not think Fidelity limits trades in the circumstance.
Christopher Curry: I see that this security is currently blocked by our system because it is a security that trades in the OTC market through the Pink Sheets, and it is not showing adequate information. These securities are deemed to be at a risk level that is not allowed through Fidelity.
Me: I have accepted that reasoning with the STOP sign but the company has filed all its financials and I feel it should be my opinion to purchase or not.
Christopher Curry: I can check with our Security Master Group to see if we have any further information on trading for this security.
Me: Many of my investor friends have left Fidelity for more favorable trading attitudes and I have been encouraged to do the same, but I am a long term trader with Fidelity and this policy has only come into play in the last year.
Christopher Curry: I understand your concern and I am happy to look into this for you.
Me: I know I am only a small fish in Fidelity's pond and would appreciate any input you can give.
Christopher Curry: I am currently looking into this for you. I can let you know that our Risk group will restrict trading on OTC securities, such as this one, that do not report adequate information. This is done to help protect our clients from investments that may not provide the information necessary for the investment.
Christopher Curry: Once I am provided with an update, I will be back with you.
Me: Thank you
Christopher Curry: It is my pleasure.
Me: I do understand and am trying to appreciate Fidelity's position, but it is MY money and I do my own DD, so I feel the responsibility is mine. I do not invest more than I can afford to lose, so the risk is tolerable.
Christopher Curry: I spoke with our Risk Group and they were able to provide some additional information.
Christopher Curry: First, this security was updated today from no information to limited information. These securities are reviewed on a nightly basis as this status can change. If the status of this security remains as limited information, it will be updated in our system tonight, and you will be able to trade it tomorrow.
Me: Thank you Christopher for your assistance. I will attempt to place my buy orders tomorrow then. Have a great day.
Christopher Curry: The reason that these restrictions can occur is that Fidelity file compliance policies on securities with FINRA. In order to remain in compliance with these policies, certain restrictions are put in place when securities do not provide an adequate level of information.
Christopher Curry: I thank you for investing with us. Have a great day!
